Parsley Mediterranean Grille is a mediterranean restaurant downtown Grand Rapids. The location is perfect for all sorts of downtown events serving fresh and nutritious food and smoothies. Pathway of Hope’s Youth and Family Services is a state-licensed, residential treatment facility for girls, ages ten through eighteen. They are a non-denominational, non-profit, Christian organization, combining professional excellence with faith-based values. They provide twenty-four hour care and professional treatment in a relaxed home setting.
I came on this project to help rebrand and update their site. The design of this site is reflective of the audience: both the girls that would be going there and the parents who found the site in the first place. They needed to be able to find the information quickly and feel like this would be an uplifting, safe place.

Brambles Woodwork
Brambles Woodwork is a business based out of Grand Rapids, MI, selling unique pieces of jewelry from found wood around the state. The owner, Jarrod Napierkowski, has been selling his jewelry out of his home and at artist markets around the holidays for years but wanted a website where he could showcase his latest works and sell pieces online when he had them available. Due to the fact that he often sells out of jewelry, his site had to also function as a place where those that have purchased his works could learn more about the wood that made up their jewelry or contact him if one of his pieces broke.
He also wanted a design that would showcase the beauty of the wood he was using and differentiate him from other jewelry makers in the area by keeping the design simple yet detailed. Almost every piece has a small story or description from where the wood was located or how he was moved to make a specific shape based on the grane he saw in the wood.

With such a vast and multidisciplinary body of work, the trick was coming up with a website where users could quickly sift through the colorful images, evoking the feeling of flipping through an art book or flashy design magazine. You skim until your eyes see something they want to settle on for a moment. We made it optimized for the iPad and smartphone too. So wherever and whatever your medium, the site looks clean, smooth and timeless.

The First Day Shoe Fund
The First Day Shoe Fund is a Kalamazoo based non-profit whose mission is to provide new athletic shoes to children in grades K-3 in Kalamazoo County who qualify for free and reduced lunch. The website was part of GiveCamp Grand Rapids, a weekend-long event where technology professionals – from designers, developers and database administrators to marketers and web strategists – donate their time to provide solutions for non-profit organizations. A group of five of us helped The First Day Shoe Fund create a clean and simple to update website over the weekend.

A recent graduate from the College for Creative Studies out of Detroit Anna Lisa is creating freelance work for various clients and is a full time employee at New Holland Brewing Company to develop their print and web media. What Anna Lisa needed was to have a site that would very simply and easily showcase a variety of her work. Taking a cue from art shows, I felt the white background made her work pop. We also reformatted her resume from a pdf format into a dynamic one that linked to other places on the web.

Waffle Pants
Waffle Pants, aka David Napierkowski, is based out of Portland, OR. He DJs at the House of Sound, a radio station presenting a changing lineup of Portland’s latest and greatest electronic music. David was running into the problem of having so many different pages on the internet showcasing what he was producing, but he didn’t have a landing page where people could find those links.
This site features Waffle Pants’ favorite beets from his Soundcloud page and some of his pictures of his time in the DJ-ing studio at House of Sound. With his website I really focused on keeping everything as simple as possible while still showing a lot of his style.

UP Pasties Company has just opened a new location up in Traverse City, showcasing some of the same great quality pasties and pot pies as it’s location in Plymouth. Tri Cities Chiropractic is a small chiropractic business located up in Midland, MI. The owner, Dr. Howard Stafford, does in-home visitation to his clients and provides the Torque Releasee Technique of Chiropractic. He needed both to get across the fact that he utilizes a different method of chiropractic than most other doctors do and that he is safe to have in people’s homes.
I created a calming page that was very simple and crisp and would help visitors feel at ease when he came to make a house call.
